Background
Traffic systems have become more and more intelligent, and many advanced technologies are used to lower the cost of the police workforce and achieve a higher level of system control. These advanced technologies reduce the percentage of accidents and organise the vehicles on the road. To set up IoT devices and gateways without the trouble of cabling. A cellular network connection is needed for all the sensors and controllers to run smoothly.
Projects Technical Highlights
- The routers have to be always online and can be waked up by SMS or Email to periodically send the data to the monitoring centre.
- Data Encryption Tunnel is critically important for the application, and multiple like IPSec and GRE are preferable in the applications.
- Must be able to provide a reliable and trustable secure Tunnel for the data transmission without any loss.
- The router must be able to work in a harsh environment, especially under high/low temperatures and strong shaking environments when the wind is strong in some open areas.
Solution
NR500-P4G is selected for this application, and tens of units have been sent to the field for testing during the past months. The customer is happy with its performance, and hundreds of orders are in the process of production. Our cellular router provides a very convenient and easy way for the installation, especially when compared to the network cabling system, with the network cabling system. There will be a lot of headaches such as theft, and maintenance has to be taken into consideration. Besides that, if fibre optic cables are used, it will be challenging to replace fibre optic cables in the case of cable issues or theft. The entire fibre optic cable has to be changed, and it will be very costly for both man forces and purchases. In this project, the IP Cameras are connected to a PLC, and all the data are sent to the monitoring centre through a 4G LTE network. The high speed of network capacity allows the pictures and videos to be transferred back to the monitoring centre without any loss, reducing a lot of police workforce.
